Food is the easiest thing in the world to post and one of the hardest to sell with. Everyone in Multan follows a few restaurant pages. Very few of those posts make anyone get in the car.
We run social media, food photography and campaigns for the Shangrilla group: Shangrilla Cuisine Bakers, the Shangrilla Chinese restaurant and Shangrilla Gardens & BBQ. Here is what has actually worked, with the real ad numbers, and what we would tell any restaurant or bakery owner in Multan or anywhere in Pakistan.

Quick answers
What kind of food content works best on Instagram and Facebook?
Real product, shot properly, with a reason to come in now. Clean photography of the actual dish, short reels of it being made or served, and a clear offer or moment, such as a monthly deal, a seasonal special or a launch.
Can a restaurant launch work without paid ads?
Yes. Our Can Cake launch for Shangrilla Cuisine Bakers ran fully organic, with no paid boosting, built on humour-led mood posters and short videos. A strong idea travels on its own.
Do Facebook ads work for restaurants in Pakistan?
They do when the ad is the food itself. Across 27 campaigns of food films and deal creatives for Shangrilla, the ads earned more than 2M post engagements at about $0.0005 each, and a single Ramadan video passed 458K engagements.
How many posts a month does a restaurant need?
Consistency matters more than volume. For Shangrilla Gardens & BBQ we plan 12 posts a month from a content calendar, alongside campaigns for launches and festivals.
1. Shoot the real product, properly
Customers can tell when food is fake. Over-edited or AI-generated photos look good in a feed and disappoint at the table, which kills repeat orders. We shoot the real product as it comes out of the kitchen, with proper lighting and styling. For Shangrilla Chinese that meant every dish shot for the menu, the delivery apps and the feed, plus a chef film for the launch. Our food photography page shows frames from all three Shangrilla kitchens.
When Shangrilla Cuisine Bakers' website needed new category banners, the brief was the same: real, unaltered Shangrilla products, laid out cleanly. Nothing invented.
2. Launch products with a story, not a price tag
The Can Cake launch is the best example we have. Instead of "new product, now available", we built humour-led mood posters around how people actually feel when they want something sweet, and backed them with short product videos. It performed fully organically. No boosting.
How we build a food launch
The same five steps for a cake, a burger or a new menu.
3. Give people a reason to come this month
A monthly rhythm beats random posting. From October 2026, Shangrilla Cuisine Bakers runs a Cake of the Month: one cake at 20% off, changing every month. The same model runs on the fast food menu at the Gulshan branch. Customers learn to check back, and every month has a built-in campaign.
4. Plan around Multan's calendar
The best posts are tied to a moment people are already in:
- Eid and Ramadan. Our Eid ul Adha film for Shangrilla Cuisine Bakers follows one family table, from the first pour of chai to the last slice of cake, and we ran a Meta campaign around it. In Ramadan, a single Shangrilla video passed 458K engagements.
- National days. Independence Day and similar dates give every brand a shared moment. Make yours specific to your product.
- Weather. When winter arrives in Multan, we switch Shangrilla Gardens' taglines to winter themes. Warm food, cold evenings, garden fires.
- Family moments. Father's Day and Mother's Day work well for bakeries when the post is about the moment, not the discount.
5. Keep each outlet its own brand
A bakery, a Chinese restaurant and a garden BBQ under one group are three different reasons to visit, with three different audiences. We plan separate content for each: cakes and biscuits for the bakery, dishes and deals for the restaurant, platters and evenings out for the garden. One generic group page would blur all three.
6. Show the kitchen
Behind-the-scenes content from our bakery shoots consistently earns attention. People want to see the cake being finished, the platter being plated and the people who make it. It builds trust in a way a polished poster cannot.
7. Put ad money behind the food, not the logo
Organic reach is a bonus, not a plan. For Shangrilla, 27 campaigns put the food films and deal posters our own crew made in front of the right people around the festival calendar: Ramadan and Eid menus, product launches and branch deals. Together they reached 3.7M people and earned more than 2M post engagements at about $0.0005 each.
The ad that works for a restaurant is the content itself, cut for the feed: a short food film or a deal poster with one clear offer. A logo with "visit us today" competes with every other page in Multan. A steaming platter in the first second does not. The Meta ads page has the full breakdown of how we set these up.
What this means for your restaurant or bakery
- Shoot the real food, well. Never fake it.
- Launch with one strong idea, not a price list.
- Build a monthly offer people can expect.
- Plan around Eid, national days and the weather.
- Give each outlet its own voice.
- Show the kitchen and the people behind it.
- Put ad money behind real food films and clear deals.
